GENERAL INFORMATION
ABOUT THE APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM
We would like to thank you for taking an interest in our program. We would
like to give you some insight into the Apprenticeship Program for which you are
applying. This may help answer some of the questions you have.
SCHOOLING:
Once accepted, you will be required to attend school for a Period of 5 years.
School meets 2 nights per week from September to May. School is a mandatory part
of the program, including an Ivy Tech class. For all apprentices there is a
mandatory OSHA and Tech Math class in the summer.
WORK:
Over the course of the next 5 years you will work for one or several Contractors
in the Electrical field. The work mostly consists of Industrial/Commercial
Wiring and little to no Residential. You are required to have 8000 hours of on
the job training as part of the Apprenticeship Program.
WAGES:
The starting rate for an apprentice will be $11.38 per hour for the first 2000
hours of your apprenticeship. At the end of the first year you are up to $14.23
an hour. You should then receive regular raises at the end of each school year
until you complete the program. This will be covered in more detail once you
have been accepted.
BENEFITS:
The benefits you will receive include Health and Welfare Insurance, Annuity, 3
separate Pensions and Eye and Dental care. Again this will be covered in greater
detail once you are in the program.
